Active Minds at St. Bonaventure is a chapter of the national organization that is dedicated to spreading mental health education and awareness. We aim to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness through organizing local and campus events, promote mental health resources available to students on and off campus, and advocate for campus policies related to mental health by communicating the needs of the student body to campus administration and professors. We organize and share a variety of self-care activities such as going to the SPCA, guided journaling, painting affirmation stones, and creating vision boards and keychains. We hold regular discussions on mental health intersecting with topics such as music, sports, meditation, media/movies, food, cultures, and COVID-19. We are working toward collaborating with other on-campus organizations regarding mental health initiatives and advocating for POC counselors as well. We welcome everyone to join Active Minds and are excited to foster a community of individuals to better the mental health of our community at large.

The club's main goal is to promote science through outreach activities on campus, in local schools, and at events in surrounding communities. Club members develop and facilitate hands-on activities in order to demonstrate that science is all around us, and that science is fun. Members of this student club are granted access to the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, giving them access to a wide range of newsletters, journals, blogs, classes, video seminars, and more.

Asian Students in Action (ASIA) is an organization for Asian and Pacific Island Americans of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and heritages. The main objectives of ASIA include: - providing an academic, social, political, and cultural support group for Asian and Pacific Island Americans at St. Bonaventure - fostering a brotherhood and sisterhood among the diverse Asian/Pacific ethnicities in the U.S. while bringing awareness to the campus community of a broader understanding of the diverse issues facing people of Asian descent in the United States today

Political activism and cultural unity are emphasized through various social and cultural events and programs throughout the school year, which include communications, social and cultural activities, academic affairs and publications. All students are encouraged to participate in the various facets of BSU.

Bona Buddies is a youth mentoring program where one-to-one relationships are established between St. Bonaventure students and local children, ages 5 to 15. All of these children need the friendship, special attention, and interest of an older person.

These relationships often fill the gap in the life of a youth who needs positive role models and experiences.

Students are asked to give a few hours each week to help make a difference in the life of a child. It’s a great way to get to know others in the community, to help a child, and to have fun.

Students may be eligible to get credit for participating.

When Hurricane Katrina hit the Golf Coast in 2005, killing more than 1,800 people and leaving millions homeless, a group of nearly 300 St. Bonaventure students, staff and community volunteers embarked on a two-week relief mission to the affected region.

It was the largest service trip in the history of the university, and the birth of BonaResponds, one of the most energetic and exciting student organizations ever assembled.

Open to anyone with a calling to make things better, its mission is simple: to help others through volunteering. BonaResponds answers calls for help from those impacted by major disasters — volunteers traveled to Ohio to help victims of flooding and to Alabama after a deadly and destructive tornado — and from local community members who just need a helping hand.

The Bonaventure Accounting Association (BAA) offers students a wide range of professional and social opportunities for exploring the accounting profession:

-field trips that enable students to study the financial markets
-networking events with Bonaventure alumni working in the accounting industry
-service projects that enable students experience the profession at work, students gain a greater understanding of the field and learn about career possibilities.

The club also sponsors various business seminars on campus during the school year such as the Accountants in Residence Day and Meet the Accountants Night.

The Bonaventure Education Association (BEA), a voluntary organization open to students in all majors, is a group of dedicated individuals working toward excellence in the classroom, service to the profession, encouragement of lifelong learning, and giving back to the community in the area of academic need. We conduct service activities in the community, such as a Book Walk fundraiser to benefit local Head Start programs, and a Halloween-themed Trunk or Treat literacy event for children.

The St. Bonaventure University community is sometimes referred to as the Bona Bubble, a place where, like any college campus, students feel comfortable, connected, and perhaps somewhat isolated from the rest of the world as they focus on their studies.

Break the Bubble is an opportunity for students to leave campus during mid-semester and holiday breaks, as well as between semesters, to participate in service trips to assist disadvantaged and under-represented populations.

The Bridge USA Chapter at St. Bonaventure University will work to build a community that fosters dialogue across diverse viewpoints while cultivating civility and bipartisanship as we attempt to BRIDGE the partisan divide through empathetic discourse and conversation.

This Club will impact St. Bonaventure University by uniting students across different political beliefs and encouraging civil discussion. We hope to teach fellow students that it is ok to have different opinions, but we must remain respectful towards each other and engage in productive dialogue. Political polarization has become very normalized across our country, and we want to do our part to eliminate its impact on the St. Bonaventure community. We are all Bonnies, and we are much more similar than we are different!

In this group, which faculty advisors note is more of a company than a club, students work with businesses and nonprofits through partnerships with such development groups as the Olean Business Development Corp. and Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board.

Students engage with local businesses, mostly startups, that need assistance with such things as budget forecasting, marketing and other crucial business matters.

Students work alongside experienced professionals as they engage with clients, offering marketing and management advice and services.

Student participants cite their involvement in C4 as the major factor in their development as effective communicators, leaders and collaborators.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) works in conjunction with student activities and is accountable for the planning, production and advertising of extracurricular programming for all students and the SBU community.

We bring award-winning artists, comedians and bands to campus. We also organize awesome "road trips," such as:

-bus excursions to sporting events
-trips to live stage performances at Buffalo theaters
-shopping and sightseeing trips to New York City
-trips to amusement parks

CAB is committed to bringing the most exciting, diverse and educational extracurricular programs to students throughout the year. The running club is intended for students who enjoy running and wish to continue running at a non- or semi-competitive level, or who wish to run with a group to stay in shape. The running club gives students of all experience levels the opportunity to run with a group. Besides meeting a couple times a week for group runs, the club participates in the annual St. Bonaventure Family Weekend fun run/walk, and other local and Buffalo-area 5K and half-marathon races.

The badminton club welcomes anyone interested in playing the sport. The club plays inside the Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center, our recreation center on campus. The group finds common times that students can practice together and play internal tournaments on campus. The Richter Center has all of the equipment needed to play that students can borrow.

Club baseball competes in the fall and spring semesters. In the fall, they play 12 conference games in the Colonial Club Baseball Association (CCBA). In the spring, they play 6-8 conference games in the American Club Baseball League (ACBL). The team can roster up to 30 players per year. Tryouts are held each fall. Home games are played at Fred Handler Park, the university's all-turf baseball complex. The team travels to the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas to compete as well.

The club bowling team is a USBC Collegiate-certified team that competes in USBC tournaments against other teams from around the East Coast. A team consists of up to eight bowlers, but this doesn't mean only eight students can participate. There is an opportunity to create additional squads if there is enough interest. The team bowls in tournaments on certain weekends during a season that lasts from October to March. The team practices at local bowling alleys and assists with local youth bowling leagues.

The club field hockey team competes in the New York State Club Field Hockey League (NYSCFHL) against other university club teams in Western and Central New York in the fall semester. The team typically practices twice a week during the season and games are held on the weekends. The club encourages both experienced players and individuals with a desire to learn to be part of the team.

The women's club softball team participates in the National Club Softball Association (NCSA) as a part of the North Atlantic Region. The team competes in nonconference and conference games, with the opportunity to compete for a conference, regional and national title each year. Our players have access to premier facilities including Joyce Field, the university's newly renovated, all-turf softball complex, where all practices and home games are played. Becoming a member of the club softball team not only gives you the opportunity to continue your career as a competitive athlete, but also the chance to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Year round, the importance of working together and being a part of a team is stressed while you continue to work on all aspects of your game.

The spikeball club is open to all students who want to learn/play the great game of spikeball. The club plays outside during the warm months and can play inside the Sandra A. and William L. Richter Center, our recreation center on campus, during the winter. The Richter Center has several spikeball sets that can be borrowed for play.

The club tennis team competes against other university club teams in Western and Central New York in the fall and spring semesters. The team typically practices twice a week on the outdoor tennis courts located on campus while matches are held on the weekends. The club encourages both experienced players and individuals with a desire to learn to be part of the team. Tennis racquets and tennis balls can be borrowed from the Richter Recreation Center if students do not have their own.

St. Bonaventure College Democrats promotes the principles of the Democratic Party, supports its platforms and candidates, as well as initiatives that advance equality, justice, liberty, life and civil rights.

We strive to:
-instruct our members in the political process and foster in them an interest in ethical and honorable civic participation.

-develop and coordinate activities to recruit and unite students who are members of the Democratic Party, providing a voice for Democrats at St. Bonaventure University.

-engage actively in the marketplace of ideas so as to stimulate and broaden thought.

-train members in political technology for the sound stewardship of an activist partisan political organization.

Founded in 1892, College Republicans comprises more than 250,000 students from more than 1,800 campuses, representing every state in the union and the District of Columbia.

Every year, students from across America come together to help elect Republican candidates, support the Republican agenda, and become the future leaders of the conservative movement. College Republicans is the grassroots arm of the Republican Party.

We place an emphasis on cultivating active citizens by holding annual voter registration drives, offering students opportunities to engage in constructive political discourse, and educating students about social and political issues that affect our nation.
